In her article about onboarding new employees, here: https://marlagottschalk.com/2019/07/28/managing-others-you-need-to-declare-yourself/ Gottschalk touches on some things I think fit into that psychological contract or PC.
For instance, Gottschalk says new employees need to know the following from paragraph 4 of her article:
- how do I connect with my manager?
- what is their work style? For more on work styles and why see Tate’s article here: https://www.fastcompany.com/3043600/3-ways-to-promote-a-different-kind-of-diversity-in-the-workplace.
- what do they value in the workplace?
She also states “Sharing who you are as a manager — what you value, how you work best, what you are looking for performance-wise in the context of their role, even your career backstory” can ease a new worker’s transition into the workplace and sets both the new employee and the organization on a good track for future success.
